Ascent Novel Prize

Ascent Novel Prize is a writing competition with a difference. For the single entry fee of £29 you are guaranteed personalised feedback. Writers from under-represented backgrounds are able to select whether they want to enter our under-represented writers' awards, for free. These additional accolades are sponsored by independent bookshop, Messrs Fletcher and Frost and a range of professionals from the industry.

For our Ascent Children's Book Award, what you enter varies depending on the length and genre of the book. Our reading team have been selected from a range of backgrounds, including published authors, aspiring writers, booksellers and those who love reading. Every entry is scored against a set rubric to make what is a very subjective process as transparent as possible.

The prize will publish the names and titles of the top one hundred, the long and short list. The shortlist will be handed to our judging panel, which typically consists of an agent and editor.
